Just a couple of quick things you need to know:
- If your swimmer can't attend regular practice, there's always afternoon practice. Next week since we have Pasta Feed (look for more details on Monday) on Thursday, afternoon practices will be held on Monday & Tuesday from 4-5. Remember to sign up in the club house. I don't think there is one up for Monday, but if you're the first one to sign up please find a piece of paper, write the date (7/6th) and put it up on the board. Thanks!
- Conference ads - a little clarification is in order: If you own a business and would like to place a full page ad, please contact Katy Simpson at katysimpson4@gmail.com. Cost is $175. If you would like to purchase a personal ad to cheer on your swimmer(s), you may do so in the club house the week of July 13th. More details will follow. There will be examples, pricing, etc. Bobbie Seidemann and Kathy Amodio will be spearheading this project.
Week of June 30
Here's all the important stuff you need to know for the week:
- Our kids and coaches rocked at the Battle of the Ages! We were one of 22 teams. We had 52 swimmers. We came in 5th!! There were awesome individual performances that included new meet records and many popped times. I think the heat tried to break its record too! Make sure you check out the cool new trophy in the club house! If you have a chance, take a moment and congratulate all our swimmers. They really did an amazing job!
- City Meet Relay Teams have been posted on the club house windows. Also look for job sign ups. Volunteer so that you can pick what you want to do instead of getting it assigned!
- Wednesday night's meet is AWAY at Forest Hills. Directions are in the handbook or on www.larkeysharks.org. IMPORTANT: Warm ups are at 5 p.m. and the meet starts at 5:30! 1/2 hour earlier than normal!!
- Swim-a-Thon donations due Friday.
- No practice on Friday.
- Larkey Sharks go camping, Friday-Sunday, at New Brighton State Beach!
- Conference ads: If you own your own business and would be interested in placing a full page ad in the Conference Program, please contact Katy Simpson at katysimpson4@gmail.com. Full page ads cost $175.
- Upcoming events:
- Larkey Sharks go to the Beach on July 13th!
- Free lunch at Chipolte on July 17th for all Larkey Sharks swimmers. Time: 11-2. Dress code: Larkey gear.
Everyone enjoy a fun, safe 4th of July! If you're not going away, don't forget that the pool holds an annual 4th of July Party that is lots of fun.
A few things that came up at tonight's
Swim Team Board meeting...
- Last chance!!!! If you would like your swimmer(s) to swim a specific event at City Meet, you MUST put a note in Coach Meagan's folder by 12:30 p.m. TOMORROW! Each swimmer is allowed to swim 3 strokes. Ever think your swimmer doesn't get to swim IM enough? Well, this is the perfect opportunity for him/her to swim it. Just write a note and put in in Coach Meagan's folder. She'll make sure it happens!
- Do you know what tomorrow is? It's Half Christmas!!!! Yes, Christmas is half a year away. To celebrate this awesome event, at tomorrow's meet swimmers can come dressed in Christmas attire: Santa hats, jingle bells, elf shoes, red & green vests, etc. It was great fun last year!
- Oh, some house cleaning: Pool members have been complaining about the number of flippers, goggles, swim boards left on the pool deck after practice. We must clean up after ourselves!
- Movie Night: A great big Larkey Sharks THANKS goes to Jenny Crepeau for organizing this fabulous event. Everyone had a wonderful time.
- At all meets, if you would like your swimmer to swim a specific stroke, please place a note in Coach Meagan's folder.
- Save the Date, July 13th: Larkey Sharks Day at the Beach! More details will follow - but not tonight!
- Come hungry to the pool on July 17th! Chipolte in Pleasant Hill is once again honoring our Larkey Shark swimmers. If your swimmer goes to Chipolte between 11 and 2 on the 17th, wearing Larkey Gear, then your swimmer eats free! Not a bad deal. Just a little something that the Swim Team Board set up as an appreciation to all of our swimmers!
- Conference advertisements in the program: Do you own your own company? Maybe you'd like to purchase a full page ad in the conference program. Ads cost $175.00. If interested, please let me know.
- Comps. So many people have asked about comps. Once we've finished City Meet, a lot more comps will be available for our swimmers. Before City Meet, many job people are just getting the hang of what they are doing - especially the desk. Be on the look out for more details on how to comp at a meet.
- And last but not least, you have a Swim Team Board that is here for you. If you have any questions or issues, please contact once of us. We'd love the opportunity to talk to you about whatever your concerns are. Most of us spend a lot of time at the pool. Don't be shy! In case you forgot who we are:
- Michelle & Brad Latson
- Katy Simpson
- Scott Lowry
- Sally Conover
- Eileen Guichard
- Oh, and some of you seem to have forgotten that we DO have practice tomorrow, Wednesday, even though we have a meet tomorrow night.
