Favorite thing about
swimming: My favorite thing about
swimming are all the friendships that I have made through this
sport. There are people still in my life who I swam with in
elementary school! These relationships that have been created are
ones that will be with me for the rest of my life and I am so
thankful for that! My other favorite thing about swimming,
especially on Larkey, is when swimming is centralized around being
a team sport. With out the support system of coaches, fellow
athletes, and family cheering you on it is hard to do well in the
pool. This is why I love Larkey, there is more than enough love and
support going around that it really makes it an awesome experience
coaching and swimming for Larkey!

All the friends that I have met and kept through my years in
swimming. In high school it gave me a group to identify with
and to spend a lot of time with. In college it gave me a core
group of friends in a very large school. As a coach, it has
given me more informal ways to get to know students where I teach
and fun ways to encounter lots of enthusiastic kids in the
summer.

I make sure to warm up until I felt energetic and awake—some

My
favorite thing about swimming is: The social aspect of the sport, including cheering, team
themes, TPing, and friendships. I also love the sport. Usually in
sports such as football, basketball, soccer, and others people need
to be a certain body type in order to excel athletically. In
swimming, technique gets you as far if not farther than physical
ability. You can always swim no matter your age or physical
condition. My favorite thing as a 6 and under was seeing all the
spirited and passionate coaches and 15-18s cheer and have fun while
on this swim team, and that is one of my goals as a coach and
swimmer, to expand and add to the spirit and experience of
Larkey.
